It is the policy of SCAW to protect the environment, public health, safety and natural resources by seeking environmental excellence as a primary objective for all company operations and activities. The achievement of this objective is characterized by conducting operations in an environmentally sound manner with emphasis on continual improvement in safeguarding our environment. To carry out this policy, we shall:
· Establish and adopt policies and procedures for promoting environmental protection objectives for every operation and assign responsibility and accountability for safeguarding the environment and encourage continuous improvement of these policies and procedures by managers and supervisors.
· Establish and implement comprehensive Health and Safety policies and procedures into the design of operational and contracting activities.
· Comply with all laws and regulations relating to environmental protection and public health and safety. Where laws and regulations do not exist, adopt appropriate standards which are technically and economically feasible to provide additional levels of protection.
· Provide adequate resources for the implementation of these policies and procedures.
· Ensure employee awareness of these policies and procedures and the legal penalties for the violation of these policies, procedures and good environmental practices.
· Implement measures to conserve natural resources such as energy and water.
· Minimize the generation of hazardous waste and ensure proper disposal of all waste.
· Support the use of sound scientific principles in decisions related to environmental protection as well as public health and safety issues by conducting or supporting appropriate research and evaluation to develop more effective methods for environmental protection, maintaining good public health and safety standards, and mitigating the impacts related to our company’s activities.
· Develop, implement, and test environmental incident contingency plans.
· Conduct periodic reviews and environmental audits of all operations and activities of the company to ensure compliance with these policies and procedures.
